How this works
Each item has a typical size in cubic feet. They're added up, then 15 percent is added, because chair legs, table tops and odd shapes leave gaps nobody can pack. The answer is the smallest common rental truck that holds the total.

Capacities vary a little between rental companies, so check the exact number for the truck you book. If you're within about 10 percent of a truck's limit, take the next size up: a second trip costs more than the bigger truck. The largest trucks need room to park and turn at both ends.
