Does my dog or cat need papers to move to another state?

It depends on the state you're moving to. Each state sets its own entry rules for pets.

A state may ask for a vet's health certificate, up-to-date shots, tests or treatments. Some are much stricter than others.

Look up your new state on the USDA pet travel page, and call your vet as soon as you know your dates.

If you pay a business to transport your pet, it's regulated by the USDA.
